If you know me, you know Halloween has always had a special place in my heart. The mix of spooky and whimsical, the costumes, and the creativity—it all speaks to my soul! So, when it came time to throw my own Halloween-themed engagement party, I couldn’t resist going all out.
Planning this Halloween-themed engagement party was a dream come true because it combined two things I love: celebrating love (especially my own!) and creating a completely immersive holiday-themed experience. With soft, dim lighting, rich autumn colors, and plenty of candles, the setting was perfect for a spooky but romantic vibe.
For my Halloween-themed engagement party, I wanted the decorations to reflect that perfect balance between eerie and elegant—something that really captures my love for all things spooky, yet beautiful. One of my favorite design elements was this floral centerpiece that set the tone for the entire party.
I used a mix of soft white flowers, nestled inside a glass cloche, which gave them a bit of a Victorian, almost haunted greenhouse vibe. The flowers, which are gardenias, had just the faintest hint of green on the petals, making them look ghostly but still delicate. I added some moss around the base to create an enchanted, slightly wild feel—like something you’d find in a forgotten, overgrown garden.
To keep things dramatic and on theme, I paired the soft florals with black candles. The flickering flames created the most gorgeous glow against the dark foliage and greenery I used to surround the arrangement. I even included some spiky, thistle-like blooms that gave it a bit of a wild, mysterious edge.
I wanted to channel a spooky, yet ethereal bride look. I went with a long, flowing white dress that had a bit of a ghostly vibe, especially with the cape that draped over my shoulders. The whole look felt dramatic but still elegant, like something straight out of a vintage horror film.
My makeup was where I really leaned into the Halloween theme. I went for bold, dark lips—a deep black lipstick that contrasted perfectly against my pale foundation. My eye makeup was just as intense, with dark, exaggerated brows and smoky eyes that added a touch of drama and mystery. To complete the look, I slicked my hair back into a tight bun, giving it a sleek, almost statuesque feel.
Oh, and I couldn’t resist adding a little gothic flair with a backdrop of a giant death’s-head moth behind me, which I felt tied everything together. It was the perfect blend of eerie and beautiful, exactly what I wanted for our spooky celebration!
