Designing florals for my own wedding was the most surreal full-circle moment. As a Dallas wedding florist, I’ve poured my heart into hundreds of weddings and this time, I got to pour it into my own. From the beginning, I knew I wanted playful wedding flowers that felt bold, joyful, and totally true to who I am. I didn’t hold back. This was my chance to create something that felt like a full-on explosion of color and emotion.
I leaned into everything I love as a designer. The color palette was electric with shades of hot pink, cherry red, tangerine, golden yellow, and crisp white. I layered those tones with different varieties of roses, ranunculus, spray roses, and pops of greenery. The textures created movement, and the shapes gave the arrangements a sculptural feel. I surrounded myself with installations that felt alive and celebratory. I even included one of my favorite design touches, my baby perched under a floral arch that framed the ceremony space with vibrant energy.
The whole space looked like a party before the party even began. From the over-the-top rainbow fringe ceiling to the bubbles floating through the air, everything was intentional. I didn’t want a traditional vibe. I wanted florals that made people stop, smile, and say “this is so you.” That’s exactly what playful wedding flowers should do. They should reflect your personality and spark joy the moment someone steps into the space.
Designing your own wedding flowers comes with chaos, let’s be real. I had my hands in everything. But it also gave me a level of freedom I never get as a florist. I wasn’t designing for a client. I was designing for myself and my partner. That meant no rules and no limitations. I paired bold florals with vintage statues, custom color palettes, and personal details that only made sense to us. And because I went with playful wedding flowers instead of a classic or muted style, it felt like a true celebration of our love, not just a pretty day.
Looking back, it was the most personal design I’ve ever created. Every flower had a reason. Every detail had a story. For anyone dreaming of a wedding that reflects their personality, don’t be afraid to lean into what you love. Color. Movement. Whimsy. Flowers can do more than decorate a space. They can transform it. And for me, they did.
If you’re dreaming of wedding florals that feel bold, personal, and anything but ordinary, I’d love to help bring that vision to life. Whether you want playful wedding flowers like mine or something completely your own, let’s design a day that feels just as unforgettable. Reach out to start planning your floral story.
