Floral design isn’t as simple as ordering bunches of flowers, and making them look pretty! There is a whole toolbox of floral studio essentials needed in order to get from that initial order of flowers, to the arrangements and installations you see on social media.
In this blog, I’ll be breaking down what’s inside the TFE Toolbox. If you’re an aspiring florist, or you’re interested in what goes down inside the wedding floral world, then this is your sign to keep reading!
Never EVER underestimate the power of a bucket in the floral world. Here at TFE, we’re often working on multiple projects at once. This means hundreds, if not thousands of flowers could end up in our studio at one time. Buckets of all sizes help us stay organized and efficient in the wedding design process!
Or as I like to call them, floral chompers! Each type of flower is different, which means normal scissors aren’t going to cut it in this world. (Pun intended!)

These are truly the secret to floral design success. Flower frogs can take a ton of different shapes, but they have one super important job: to sit in the bottom of the vase or container, and help hold the arrangement you’re building in place.
But why is it called a frog? Because the original was actually shaped like one! Now you can find them in a ton of different animal forms or shapes. Some can even be worth money depending on when they were made! Next time you’re thrifting or antiquing, see if you can find one.
Once you have a million buckets full of flowers, how do you transport them around? The answer is simple: rolling carts! These let us get all of our flowers, and even finished arrangements, from the design table to the cooler with ease.
What would be a day in the studio without a little dance party?! My portable speaker is a staple for design days, so we can have plenty of entertainment while we’re building the wedding of your dreams.
But wait, there’s more! Here are a few floral studio essentials I have inside my toolbox each and every week:
Shears
Knives
Lots (and LOTS) of Waterproof Tape
Zipties
More Zipties
Chicken Wire
Foam
First-aid kit
Fishing Line
