If you’ve kept up with The Floral Eclectic for some time, you know that we LOVE Halloween and themed events around here! Since spooky month is officially upon us, I thought it’d be fun to chat about Halloween floral inspo that isn’t cheesy. This is going to be a fun one– let’s dive in.
The first colors that come to mind when you think of Halloween are probably orange and black, right? While those colors are iconic markers of this ghoulish holiday, there are many other color combinations that can have the same spooky effect that you’re aiming for.
Let’s look at a couple of my favorite spooky color palettes.
First up– green, black, white, and gray. Deep, rich greens paired with black make for hauntingly beautiful floral arrangements. Wouldn’t you agree?
Another Halloween color palette I love is white, green, and deep burgundy reds. You may be thinking, “Green and reds give Christmas vibes.” Or do they? When executed with Halloween in mind, I think the floral arrangements turn out very Halloween-esque, like the ones you see below!
Floral selection is a huge part of nailing Halloween themed floral inspo that isn’t cheesy.
I opt for flowers and greenery that have a bit harsher look to them. Even roses can give that spooky romance vibes when paired with the right florals in an arrangement. Here’s a closer look at some Halloween inspired floral arrangements.
Beyond the florals, we think about how the other decor details play into the Halloween theme without being cheesy. Here’s some examples and inspiration.
For this horror-themed wedding, we added a small skull in the bridal bouquet to add a small, subtle touch of horror without being overpowering. At that same wedding, floral arrangements were designed in monochromatic black textured skull vases. Again, horror vibes without being cheesy!
Another fun idea is utilizing cloches! Cloches can take many different aesthetics depending on the color palette and floral arrangement they are paired with. I’ve flowered weddings where cloches were used to give a more romantic princess vibe and others, like my Halloween engagement party, we used to add more Halloween flair!
I’m a sucker for top to bottom detail curation at my clients’ weddings and events, so I have to throw in some Halloween table scape inspiration (that’s not cheesy, of course)!
A favorite of mine– all black EVERYTHING. It’s like classy Halloween and I love it!
For the horror-themed wedding we’ve been talking about, we included black tapered candles with gold holders, skull vases and, yes, skeleton hands climbing out of floral arrangements.
If you’re dreaming of a Halloween themed wedding that’s not cheesy, I’d love to connect with you and see how we can work together to bring your vision to life!
