Here at TFE, I’m a firm believer that your event or wedding design doesn’t JUST have to be flowers. Oddities, candles, and other curiosities are always welcome in our world, and I love creating eclectic and unique designs for you. Heck, it’s even in our name! One of my favorite ways to incorporate a wide array of design elements is in tablescapes. So many people opt for a traditional bouquet in the middle of each table, and call it a day. I’m here to show you that there is so much more out there! Let’s dive into some of my favorite wedding and event tablescape variations from the last few seasons.
I’ve noticed lately that tapered candles have been taking center stage, and I’m not mad about it. Candle arrangements, alongside bud vases, are a great way to offset larger floral arrangements, while also adding a level of elegance and/or moodiness!
The great thing is that candles come in almost every color under the sun, and can be coordinated with literally any design. Interested in incorporating candles into your special day? Click HERE to see a list of some of my favorite candles I’ve worked with recently!
Now I know this is technically floral, but they’re often underrated so I had to chat with you about them! Cloches are a glass dome that we can fill with whatever floral or oddities you like. Some couples opt for just flowers, others opt for more, and the end result is always stunning. Check out a few examples below, and how we incorporated them into tablescape variations with other oddities!
I might be biased, but if there’s any way we can incorporate animals into a wedding day… I say do it! Cute little animal themed vases or decorations are always a must, and can be themed to whatever the couple loves. I’ve seen some couples incorporate oddities that look like their own animals, while others go for a more tropical or safari themed design. Check out these shots from my styled shoot last year to give you some inspiration!
This trend was HUGE in 2022, but I’m still seeing it hold strong in 2023! Regardless of the trends, I think fruit is a unique way to add a pop of something new to your tablescapes. I’ve worked with couples who want a whole tropical spread, while others are looking for specific fruits such as citrus. Funky glassware is also a must with this design!
If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that I have the most unique couples out there! Not only have we designed tablescapes with all the attributes above, but there have been other instances where we have added in even more unique oddities.
Kayleen and Peter added books AND fruit into their florals, and I couldn’t have loved it more. The colors, along with the books as pedestals, really brought the design together!
Last but not least, we can’t forget about Jazmine and Frank who blew it out of the water with their Star Wars themed day. We used gold painted memorabilia to create the centerpieces, and I’m obsessed with how they turned out!
Moral of the story… more is always more when it comes to tablescapes! Don’t be afraid to step out of the box, and incorporate pieces that mean the most to you and your lover. It’ll make for wedding decor, and tablescape variations, that you’ll never forget!
