When Madison and Walker came to me for their wedding welcome party, they knew they wanted something memorable. The inspiration was fresh, colorful, playful, and unmistakably summery: lemons.

Instead of simply adding a few lemons to the tables, I designed the entire experience around the concept. From the florals to the tablescape, every detail worked together to create a lemon dinner party that felt intentional, personal, and completely tailored to the couple.
This is exactly what I love about designing events. A theme doesn’t have to feel cheesy or overly literal. When you thoughtfully incorporate color, texture, florals, food, and small details, you can create an entire atmosphere around an idea.

The lemons were the jumping-off point for the design, but I didn’t want them to be the only thing guests noticed.
I used the bright yellow of the lemons as inspiration for the color palette, then layered in complementary colors, textures, and floral varieties to create something that felt full and dimensional. The goal was to make the lemons feel like part of the overall design rather than an accessory placed on the table.
Flowers helped soften the brightness and create movement throughout the space. I incorporated colorful blooms alongside the citrus elements so the arrangements felt abundant, playful, and organic.
The result was a lemon dinner party design that felt like summer without looking generic.

One of my favorite parts of event design is thinking beyond the centerpiece.
For Madison and Walker’s welcome party, I considered how all of the individual details would work together. The tablescape, flowers, colors, citrus elements, and surrounding decor needed to feel like they belonged in the same story.
That meant thinking about the overall guest experience rather than treating each element as a separate task.
When guests walked into the party, I wanted them to immediately understand the mood. Bright, joyful, welcoming, and a little unexpected.
The lemons became a visual thread throughout the design, while the flowers added the layers that made everything feel elevated.

One of the biggest misconceptions about themed events is that they have to be overly literal.
They don’t.
A theme can be a color palette, a favorite food, a place, a season, a memory, a piece of art, or something as simple as a fruit you love. My job is to take that inspiration and translate it into a cohesive design that still feels like my client.
For this lemon dinner party, the citrus inspiration gave me a clear starting point, but Madison and Walker’s personalities and the overall feeling they wanted for their wedding weekend shaped the final design.
That’s the part of custom event design I love most. I don’t want to recreate something I’ve already done. I want to understand what makes an event meaningful to my clients and then build a design around that.

While weddings are a huge part of what I do, I also love designing dinner parties, birthday celebrations, corporate events, showers, brand activations, and intimate gatherings.
You don’t need hundreds of guests to create an incredible event.
A small dinner party can have just as much personality as a large wedding. In fact, smaller events often give me even more opportunities to focus on the details and create an immersive experience.
I can help develop the color palette, floral design, tablescape, decor, installations, and other visual details so everything feels connected.
If you have a theme you’ve been dreaming about but aren’t sure how to bring it to life, that’s where I come in.

Maybe your inspiration is lemons and bright yellow. Maybe it’s an old family recipe, your favorite movie, a vintage garden, a particular color combination, or a destination that means something to you.
Whatever your starting point, I can take that idea and build it into a complete event design.
Madison and Walker’s welcome party is a perfect example of how a simple idea can become an entire experience. The lemons weren’t just decoration. They helped establish the mood, inspire the palette, and tie the different design elements together.
That’s what I want to create for every client: events that feel thoughtful, cohesive, and unmistakably yours.
