If you’re wondering when to book a wedding florist, there’s one thing you should do first: book your venue.
I know it can be tempting to find your florist as soon as you start dreaming about your wedding flowers. But knowing exactly where you’re getting married is a huge part of creating an accurate floral proposal and figuring out what we can actually design.

Every venue is different, and your space can have a big impact on your floral budget. The size and layout of the room, number of tables, ceremony setup, existing décor, and venue rules all play a role.
Without knowing your venue, it’s difficult for me to give you an accurate quote. Once I know the space, I can start thinking about scale, logistics, and where your floral budget will have the biggest impact.

This becomes especially important if you’re dreaming about larger floral installations.
Hanging flowers, large ceremony structures, staircase installations, dramatic floral backdrops, and other statement pieces may require specific permissions, rigging, or installation requirements.
Some venues have restrictions on what can be attached to walls or ceilings, while others have structural limitations or preferred vendors.
Knowing your venue early allows me to design within those parameters instead of creating a plan that isn’t possible.

Your flowers should complement the space rather than compete with it.
A historic building, garden venue, modern ballroom, and industrial space all offer completely different design opportunities. Sometimes the venue itself makes such a statement that we only need flowers in a few intentional places.
That’s why I want to know where you’re getting married before we start designing.
Start with your venue, then reach out to your florist.
Once your venue is booked, you’ll have the information your florist needs to create a thoughtful, realistic proposal tailored to your wedding.
Venue first. Florist second. Then we can start making the floral magic happen.
